FOUR MORE SUSPECTS ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH AGGRAVATED ROBBERY AND MURDER OF BETWARE EDSON

SHEEMA  The Greater Bushenyi Police Region is updating the public on the progress of investigations into the aggravated robbery and murder that occurred on 28th July 2025 at Rutooma Cell, Sheema District, says SP. Tayebwa Apollo, Regional Police Public Relations Officer.


Following sustained investigative efforts, Sheema District Police have successfully arrested four additional suspects, namely: Nahamya Ovid alias Akilamu, Tayebwa Cosma, Amanya Jordan alias Piza, and Natuhamya Naboth alias Kayana. Upon interrogation, the above suspects voluntarily confessed to their involvement in the said crime, according to SP. Tayebwa Apollo.


In light of this development, the case file has been resubmitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for perusal and further legal guidance regarding the four newly arrested suspects, alongside three other suspects who have been on remand, SP. Tayebwa Apollo added. These are: Kaweesi Mashudi Oyo, Kato Hussein Jingo, and Mukombozi Mazinga. The three have been in custody based on canine-linked circumstantial evidence as investigations continue.


Investigations into this matter are still ongoing, and the Police remain committed to ensuring that all those involved are brought to justice, says SP. Tayebwa Apollo. The public will be duly informed of any further developments.


The Police appeal to members of the public to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious persons or activities to the Police and other security agencies, SP. Tayebwa Apollo urged.


The Greater Bushenyi Police Region extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Betware Edson and prays that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and strengthens his loved ones during this difficult time, according to SP. Tayebwa Apollo .
